Frequently Asked Questions
What does it mean to subscribe to The Covert Cupboard?
Subscribing is how you get your bread. We don't have a walk in service for buying bread, so when you subscribe, you tell us what bread you want to buy, pay for it, we'll make it, then you can come pick it up (or have it delivered to you by bike) on one of designated pick-up days. top of page
Why are you subscription based rather than a standard walk-in bakery?
Excellent question! We're so glad you asked. By taking orders by subscription, we accomplish a few things. First, it saves you money by cutting the costs on our end. Since we know exactly how much to make, we don't have to guess and make too much or too little. This way, there's no wasted food and you'll always know your order will be fresh baked and waiting just for you. top of page
Can I order an item not on your menu (e.g. custom cake)?
Yes! Send us an email at products@covertcupboard.com. We'll talk it over amongst ourselves and let you know what we can do! top of page
What is a "bake day"?
A bake day is our way of saying, this is the day your bread will be ready. We couldn't say "pick-up day" because we plan on doing bike delivery soon, and "pick-up/delivery day" just seems unnecessarily lengthy. top of page
Why is there a tax charge on my online pre-paid order?
For farmer's market we're basically taking the sales tax hit on our prices in order to make things simpler. But online with a credit card, we don't have to figure out the cost and change of two granola bars and loaf of multigrain + 7.85% tax. Also, the cost of processing an online order means we're often making less money per order, but we thought it'd be nice to be able to order online. top of page
Where will you bike-deliver to?
Anywhere within Kirksville city limits! We can deliver a little bit outside of Kirksville too, specifically east and west of Kirksville. If you live a little bit outside of Kirksville and still want bike-delivery, please contact us first. top of page
